Liquidambar orientalis

Cutting grown plant, trunk caliper is 1.0 inches. The nebari
spread is about 3 inches. This is a completely
trunk finished tree. The existing branches can certainly be used as
final branches, but it will bud out all over in the spring for
additional choices. There is shari on what will probably be the front
and can be seen in the photo. I think this is best used as a feature
rather than trying to grow it over since it is such a nice little tree
already. It has great nebari potential with 4 great roots on the
surface. These would have to be terminated soon and encourage to
ramify, but once complete, the nebari would be the real show of this
tree. The leaves reduce very nicely and can be as small as one inch or
less. Liquidambar can be defoliate mulitple times and disbudded to
achieve ramification, although the winter display may be the main
attraction once finished. With a few hours work and another growing season, this tree will be worth twice this much. |
